We recently got in touch with Cyndy Dumay. Dumay shared her thoughts on her business, community-building and more.
Here’s our conversation.
What does everybody need to know about Dynamic Choice Salon?
We became an LLC in 2016 and moved to our current location on Flower Avenue in 2023. We have two identities. As a local business, we are a hair salon that specializes in chemical-free services, and our passion is to bring out your natural beauty. At the same time we are also a community hub.
We love the idea of salons serving as community hubs. Would you talk a bit about that? What are a couple of the gatherings you’ve hosted at Dynamic Choice?
Dynamic Choice aims to be a pillar in the community by providing a safe space where people can connect with each other. We have hosted an open house, an anniversary celebration, several pop-up shops, meetings with our Ward 5 council member, plus Discover Long Branch events and block parties as well as Thanksgiving and back-to-school giveaways.
Easy to see why you were an Azalea Award winner. How does that feel?
I feel honored and grateful to win the Azalea Award. It is a humbling experience to be recognized by the community in which I live and have chosen to build my business.
What is something that you're looking forward to next year?
My focus is on growth—not just in business, but in finding meaningful ways to serve and support my community. I’m excited to announce my plans to establish Dynamic Choice Academy, where I’ll empower aspiring entrepreneurs by teaching them the art of hair care and the business skills needed to succeed in the beauty industry.
