Long Branch Housing Action Team
The Long Branch Housing Action Team launched in 2023 following a series of community meetings led by CHEER that engaged more than 50 residents. The group advocates for community-driven housing goals, including increasing affordable housing for current renters and low-income homeowners and protecting residents from rising rents and housing costs.
Maple Community Association, Inc.
Maple Community Association, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 2023 to support underserved youth and seniors in the Takoma Park community. MCA provides community-based programs and services tailored to the needs of both adolescents and older adults.
New Hampshire Estates/Oak View ES PTA
The NHE/OV Joint PTA supports students, families, teachers, and staff at New Hampshire Estates and Oak View Elementary Schools. The PTA provides $5,000 annually to each school for teacher supplies, field trips, and educational enhancements such as STEM games for indoor recess.
Rolling Terrace Elementary School PTA
The Rolling Terrace Elementary School PTA is a nonprofit organization supporting students at Rolling Terrace Elementary in reaching their educational potential. The PTA promotes an inclusive school community where every child, caregiver, and staff member feels welcomed and supported.
Silver Spring International Middle School PTSA
The SSIMS PTSA is an active organization that supports Silver Spring International Middle School through staff appreciation, field trip and program assistance, and coordination of school events such as Back-to-School Night, Field Day, Career Day, and 8th Grade Promotion.
Takoma Park Neighborhood Food Project
The Takoma Park Neighborhood Food Project works to reduce food insecurity through a shared community model that distributes responsibility broadly rather than placing a heavy burden on any one person or group. Volunteers collect and supply food to Educare Support Services, which then distributes it to neighbors in need while fostering community spirit and cooperation.
